Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup (33g) Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves (6g) garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp (5g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2g) black pepper
  • 1 tsp (2g) onion powder
  • 4 whole grain buns
  • 4 slices (80g) cheddar or swiss cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, avoiding overworking the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape into patties roughly 3/4 inch (2cm) thick and press a small indent into the center of each patty with your thumb.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place patties in the basket in a single layer without touching.
  4. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip the patties. Cook for another 6-8 minutes.
  5. During the final 1 minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty until melted.
  6. Remove burgers when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer.
  7. Let the burgers rest for 3-5 minutes before serving on buns with lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
