Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground turkey (93% lean)
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/3 cup (33g) Panko breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves (6g) garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp (5g) salt
- 1/2 tsp (2g) black pepper
- 1 tsp (2g) onion powder
- 4 whole grain buns
- 4 slices (80g) cheddar or swiss cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Red onion
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, avoiding overworking the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape into patties roughly 3/4 inch (2cm) thick and press a small indent into the center of each patty with your thumb.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place patties in the basket in a single layer without touching.
- Cook for 6 minutes, then flip the patties. Cook for another 6-8 minutes.
- During the final 1 minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty until melted.
- Remove burgers when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer.
- Let the burgers rest for 3-5 minutes before serving on buns with lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
