Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg
  • 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • ½ tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  2. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until the batter looks smooth and glossy.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently with a spatula or spoon until just combined; stop the moment you no longer see white streaks of flour.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined sheets. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes until edges are barely golden brown.
  6. Let cookies set on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
